COMING SOON: HOPS MEADOW
Williamsburg, Massachusetts
After spending years carefully restoring their antique Federal-style home, our clients asked us to reimagine the landscape with the same care. The house offers panoramic views of both the surrounding meadow and sunsets, so preserving these was key. We also prioritized integrating seating areas, outdoor dining, and a parking court into the new gardens, as our clients love to entertain. The planting scheme in front of the house has a classic New England feel, with boxwoods, hydrangeas, and hornbeams making a tidy— but welcoming— first impression. Beyond the entrance and parking court, the planting grows looser and more romantic. These “stroll gardens” are heavily planted with native grasses, perennials, and trees to provide habitats for pollinators and wildlife as well as year-round color.
We meticulously designed a landscape that harmonizes with the house’s period architecture and bucolic context while supporting a modern lifestyle. The new gardens will be as practical as they are beautiful, and feel like it’s always been there.
Photos will be updated as the project nears completion.
